Barack Convention Obama Speech | Obama President 2008

Sarah Palin’s Facebook blog (August 4, 2010) attacked President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party following the president’s speech given August 4, 2010 at a convention of the AFL-CIO. The former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate used the opportunity to blast the “fiscally irresponsible measures” of the Democrats and referred to Obama’s hypocrisy.

Palin postulated that it was time for the president to move beyond blaming George W. Bush and invited her readers to read an article by Paul Ryan, published in Human Events August 4, 2010. Parts of Palin’s analysis, however, are not factually correct.

Palin’s Errors in the Historical Record

Sarah Palin states that, “Barack Obama was part of the problem while in Congress.” As evidence, she comments that that, “Senator Obama pushed the fiscally irresponsible measures that Democrats, who held the majority, advanced while holding the government’s purse strings.” Obama’s tenure in the U.S. Senate lasted from January 3, 2005 until November 16, 2008.
